Midlands Infrastructure Jobs on the Rise

Posted by Adam Cadwaladr on Thursday, October 27, 2016

Over the course of the last couple of weeks, Maxim Recruitment has had a large influx of exciting Quantity Surveying and Estimating jobs in the Midlands region for leading consultancies. I am outlining here some of the opportunities available and the requirements of the jobs, including sector, seniority, form of contract, and specific locations.

Which Sectors?

The Quantity Surveying and Estimating roles I speak of are predominantly in the infrastructure sector. I have exciting roles available in Water, Power, Rail (frameworks and a very prestigious one off rail project), Highways, Environmental, and Offshore sectors.

Which Type of Companies?

The roles that we are filling are for international multi-disciplinary consultancies that operate in a variety of construction sectors across the globe. The consultancies are involved on exciting projects in the UK with very strong, growing infrastructure divisions.

Which Levels of Seniority are in Demand?

We are recruiting for staff from Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Estimator up to the Associate Director level.

Which Sector / Forms of Contract Experience are Considered?

For some of the roles, sector specific experience is required; however general civil and infrastructure experience is sought after for most of the available jobs. We are recruiting for a prestigious rail project in particular that requires rail experience through and through.

Candidates with solid knowledge of the NEC or FIDIC form of contract are required for most of the available roles, depending which one you look at. Individuals with EPC experience are also in high demand for some of the jobs.

Which type of Company Backgrounds are Considered?

Most of the roles would consider candidates with a Consultancy, Client, or Main Contracting background. As long as you show transferability and drive, you could be the right candidate for one of the roles.

Which Locations in the Midlands?

The available opportunities for Quantity Surveyors and Estimators that are interested are spread across the Birmingham area and the East Midlands. Locations include Central Birmingham, Solihull, Nottingham, Peterborough and Coventry for the most urgent requirements. Other potential locations also include Derby.

Summary

If you are a qualified, experienced Quantity Surveyor or Estimator in the Midlands area, and interested to find out more about the roles available and potentially be put forward, I would be very keen to hear from you. These are roles for excellent companies, who require excellent candidates at a variety of levels.

Please send us your most recent CV and I will be in touch when a suitable role arises.
