“Selamat Dating !”  Get Your Career Back On Track With Rail in Malaysia!
Regular readers of the Maxim Recruitment newsletter and blog will know all about the fantastic career opportunities we are now recruiting for on the massive MTRC rail projects now underway in Hong Kong.   This month however we have a focus on the major developments on one of the major rail projects that is now live in Malaysia.

The Background - Middle East Rail Projects Finishing Up & New Projects Not Starting?
Rail expats in the Middle East will know that the Dubai Metro Red Line has been completed and entered operation on the 9th of the 9th 2009. The new news is that the Green Line becomes operational very shortly on the 9th of the 9th 2011.  Much of the talk of new Abu Dhabi and Dubai rail and light rail projects starting up in earnest has so far pretty much come to nothing – to the disappointment of the rail and civil engineering professionals based over there who have been hoping for a slice of the action.  This is perhaps an additional reason why the KVMRT (Kalang Valley Mass Rail Transit) Project that is getting underway in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia should be of such great interest.

An Overview of the KVMRT (Kalang Valley Mass Rail Transit) Project
Civils works will commence in November 2011 and the project is likely to run until 2016, with financing coming fully from the Malaysian government. The project structure & delivery method may look complicated to some:
The line, including all 31 stations, will be owned by the Malaysian Government through Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad, (Prasarana) the Project Owner, which is 100% owned by the Ministry of Finance. Prasarana has appointed RapidKL to operate the MRT network. The Malaysian government, through Prasarana, has appointed a Project Delivery Partner (PDP) to assume the responsibility for delivering the MRT project within agreed Target Cost and a Target Completion Date. The PDP has now taken up its responsibility for packaging the works, calling tenders on behalf of the government, evaluating bids, selecting work package contracts with the government and making awards on the government's behalf to the contractors.  It is also doing certain aspects of the construction work directly itself.

Civil Engineering and Rail Jobs Available on the KVMRT (Kalang Valley Mass Rail Transit Project
What is most important to the potential applicants interested in working on this rail project in Malaysia, is that the business development and recruitment teams at Maxim Recruitment have now positioned themselves with key organizations, companies and influential individuals to be able to offer our applicants live strategic and operational roles with the major organizations and companies involved with the KVMRT project.

More KVMRT (Kalang Valley Mass Rail Transit) Project Construction Details
Generally the planned alignment runs underground within the Kuala Lumpur city centre and will be elevated in the outskirts of the city. The MRT will generate economic value - 130,000 jobs at various levels created during construction.
The KVMRT Sungai Buloh - Kajang Line is a proposed passenger rail line running from Sungai Buloh in the north east of the city, cutting through the Kuala Lumpur City Centre to Kajang in the south west that will consist of high capacity trains running on a dedicated electrified track.
The Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line will cover a distance of 51 kilometers (of which 9.5km is underground). There will be 31 stations planned along the route, to serve a total population of 1.2 million currently inadequately served by rail-based networks.
