Project Details

The Associate Director Cost Planning role involves providing guidance to a team of consultants to deliver cost consulting services efficiently.

This includes client delivery, revenue management, business development, offering technical expertise, and leading the consultant team.

The project portfolio primarily involves industrial, commercial and institutional projects.

You will be reporting to a Senior Director and collaborating with the management team on diverse asset types and accounts.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Calculate the measurements of specific building elements and other contract documentation for detailed and conceptual estimates and consolidate and review project cost estimates and cost plans, including pricing for change orders to ensure accurate cost estimations.
  • Collaborate with various internal/external partners to obtain the necessary information to prepare proposals/reports and  develop innovative solutions to meet the client’s unique requirements;
  • Conduct technical checking and quality assurance of reports produced by others to ensure the deliverables are of billable quality before issuance to clients.
  • Direct the distribution of inputs required for the preparation of the estimates, provide advice on project task and ensure receipt of the inputs as per established deadlines.
  • Act as primary contact for all client communications on projects. Maintain ongoing client communication and resolve issues expeditiously.
  • Accountable for sourcing new clients/business and developing and building long term client relationships with existing clients to grow fee earnings through repeat business and referrals.
  • Work cooperatively with team members across the organization; develop internal network and relationships to facilitate information sharing, cross-selling and expansion of service offerings to clients
  • Provide direction, leadership, coaching, and mentoring to the team, including input on hiring, disciplinary actions, and terminations, and manages training and development needs to ensure workforce competency.
  • Ensure billing memos are accurate and issued on a timely basis for preparation of invoices. Prepare quarterly forecasts, follow up with clients on overdue invoices.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 7-10 years of leadership experience in a commercial real estate or related field, with a multi-dimensional understanding of the real estate consulting and advisory industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of the local construction industry (ICI sector projects), public and private owners, general contractors, sub-trades, contracts, Lien Acts, pricing, method of measurement, residential
  • Full and deep understanding of Cost Planning services
  • Proficient in using MS Office, CostX, Timberline, Estate Master.
  • Self-motivated and a great team player
  • Proven strategic thinking, analytical skills, and strong business acumen, with a focus on business development.
  • Fluent French

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • A college diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field is required
  • Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) or Member RICS (MRICS) is required.
