New Intermediate Quantity Surveyor position with an established cost consultancy firm in Calgary, Alberta.

Looking for an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor candidate to start as soon as possible.

Only candidates who are legally eligible to work in Canada will be considered.

Ideal candidates will be aware of Calgary/ Canada pricing/ estimating.

Project Details

The project work primarily includes schools and hospitals. These can be new build school projects and renovation of hospitals and schools.

Project value ranges between $500k to $ 70 mil. It is a requirement that the Quantity Surveyor in this role must be able to do take-offs.

Previous experience working in a cost consultancy environment is desired.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Generate comprehensive project estimates based on conceptual drawings
  • Prepare Take offs from systematic design (early stage)
  • Prepare tender documents for projects.
  • Reading drawings and specifications
  • Build, develop & maintain a network of strong relationships with key stakeholders such as subcontractors & clients.
  • Using ‘’On screen’’, SAGE and Timberline software for estimating
  • Liaison and correspondence with client and other team members

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in a similar capacity as a Quantity, Estimator or Cost Consultant
  • Able to read drawings.
  • Able to write a summary of substructure, shell, and interior services
  • Client-facing capability
  • An understanding of the Canadian construction market and various practices used within it.
  • A working knowledge of the construction industry, including development, contracting, and consulting sectors.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Capable of working efficiently on assigned tasks and able to meet deadlines

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

University Degree or equivalent to any of the following, Quantity Surveying, Construction, and Structural and Civil Engineering would be beneficial.
