Assistant Quantity Surveyor

An Assistant level Quantity Surveyor is required to join a leading regional main contractor based in Birmingham. You will work on new build and refurbishment projects typically valued between £1m - £6m.  The successful candidate will support the Senior Quantity Surveyor on one or more projects to start with before eventually taking on more responsibility and moving into a role where they manage their own project(s).

Project Details

The successful candidate will be expected to manage multiple projects typically valued between £1 - £6m. You will be site based and provide commercial assistance to the Senior Quantity Surveyor, potentially over multiple projects.  The company carry out work on new build and refurbishment projects across a number of specific sectors of the built environment, including:

- Education
- Residential
- Industrial & Commercial
- Leisure & retail
- Heritage
- Framework Agreements

Responsibilities and Duties

You will be site based and may be expected to split your time over multiple projects. You will report directly into the Senior Quantity Surveyor, providing day to day commercial assistance on the project(s).

Duties will include:

- Measurements
- Sub contractor management
- Managing payments
- Valuations
- Financial reporting
- Attending site meetings

Desired Skills and Experience

- Candidates will already have some experience of working in a junior level Quantity Surveying role and have a good understanding of the QS role and the basic day to day duties
- Candidates who have experience working on projects in the built environment rather than on civils projects would be preferred, however any promising assistant level Quantity Surveyor's will be considered
- Excellent organisation and planning skills are essential
- Confident, professional and enthusiastic personality
- Excellent written and verbal English is essential

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

- Candidates will ideally be qualified to Degree level or similar equivalent
