Our client, an employee centric boutique multi award winning progressive architectural practice is looking to appoint an energetic and forward thinking Business Development Manager to join their team in Dubai and take on a leadership role to grow the business across the region.   

Project Details

  • To Identify and Develop business opportunities and the profitable management of trading relationships to ensure their compliance with business goals and policies.
  • To Direct the business development activities of UAE and drive the new sales business for the company playing key role in the company’s bottom line.
  • To Identify revenue-generating opportunities for the clients, as well as managing regional key client relationships, in line with the company’s overarching Mission and Vision.

Responsibilities and Duties

Strategic Commercial Planning & Development
  • Define and develop the long-term strategic goals for Business Development, in line with the client's overall strategic context.
  • Identify new revenue-generation opportunities that enhance and promote the client's Mission and Vision Statements.
  • Plan and coordinate the implementation of business plans and the penetration of new markets.
Sales, Marketing and Business Development
    • Develop the necessary strategies for successful operations throughout the business.
    • Attend meetings with and give sales presentations to current and potential clients.
    • Manage the sales process and establish relationships with clients.
    • Research new clients and negotiate contracts.
    • Actively close deals for new projects and initiatives.
Customer Relationship Management
    • Actively manage key relationships with existing and prospective clients.
    • Work closely with partners, consultants and staff as needed on the delivery of fee-for-service initiatives.
    • Overview the performance of Saudi Arabia branch and Ensure customers are kept up to date with relevant information and reports, where applicable.
    • Communicate changes and share information with Saudi Arabia branch to ensure proper coordination and implementation of the commercial strategy.
    • Establish appropriate relationships and communicate with other relevant functional areas.
Financial and Business Planning and Budgeting  
    • Analyse the progress of revenue-generation goals and make recommendations for adjustments, interventions as required.
    • Identify opportunities to bid for and acquire new projects.
    • Research and recommend grant and funding opportunities.
    • Participate in proposal preparation as needed.
    • Prepare and present Territory Plans, Account Plans and Opportunity Reviews.
Talent Development  
  • Proactively demonstrate knowledge and skills acquired in the workplace.
    • Actively seek professional development including leadership training internally and externally.
    • Open to the contribution of others, encourages team members to speak up and contribute.
    • Interviews juniors, interns and other personnel if requested and conducts performance reviews for team members along with management as requested.

Office Development
    • Define, plan, and execute office development objectives in alignment with the client's strategic goals.
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive roadmap for office improvement and expansion, outlining milestones and timelines.
    • Continuously evaluate and adapt office development plans in response to changing business needs or external factors.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and standards in office development projects.
    • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to office development projects.
    • Champions the importance of the studio setting and guides their team to minimize their environmental impact while working by considering before printing, keeps office temperature maintained at the recommended degree, lights and electronic equipment turned off when not in use.
    • Updates HR with documents as requested and in a timely manner.  Takes responsibility for the validity of own documents including visa.  Has an awareness of UAE work regulations.
    • Interested in my own and team health and well-being, contributes to office initiatives. 
    • Is aware of correct posture, managing eyes with computers, devices and stress management techniques and leads by example.
    • Respects office and team timing.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • UAE,  GULF experience is a must.
  • 10-15 years of experience in Consulting & Engineering company.
  • Understand design and all other consultancy operations.
  • Excellent Verbal and Written English skills to fluently communicate at all levels, internally and externally.
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly on new issues and to make sound judgements on them.
  • Ability to inspire confidence and create trust.
  • Ability to manage adversarial approaches and challenging negotiation scenarios with skill and confidence.
  • Commercial and customer solution focused with strong point of sale skills.
  • Ability to connect with the audience and deliver an inspirational or captivating presentation.
  • Having a track record of team building and being able to lead, influence and build relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to strongly plan and concentrate on tasks by gathering and analyzing information, by looking through different points of view while solving problems.
  • Proven knowledge and execution of successful development strategies
  • Proven experience managing client relations.
  • Proven success acquiring high-visibility clients and accounts and implementing new programs to expand existing business.
  • Experience developing pricing strategies for professional services
  • Excellent Commercial Awareness to have a better understanding of how the major players in the market are currently performing and to be able to speculate intelligently about future developments in business.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
