This opportunity is in Dubai with a prestigious expert witness consultancy. You will support a leading delay expert on major international construction disputes and arbitrations, gaining increasing responsibility across high-profile matters. Ideal for candidates with 3+ years’ engineering experience and some delay analysis exposure.
Project Details
Due to the reputation of key individuals within this business, the employer provides independent expert witness services on some of the world’s largest and most high-profile construction disputes.
This includes adjudications and major international arbitrations, often connected to landmark infrastructure and mega-projects across the Middle East (including aviation, transport and major real estate developments).
Responsibilities and Duties
In this Consultant - Delay Analysis role, your primary function will be to provide high-level analytical support to a recognised delay expert on one or more disputes, commonly linked to arbitration and/or litigation proceedings.
As you progress, you will be trusted with greater responsibility and autonomy, including:
- Providing forensic planning and delay analysis support on live disputes
- Reviewing project records, correspondence and programmes to identify delay drivers
- Assisting with preparation of expert reports and supporting appendices
- Taking ownership of defined sections of expert reports (analysis and drafting) as experience grows
- Supporting meetings with lawyers/solicitors, counsel and project stakeholders as required
- Contributing to clear, well-presented outputs suitable for formal dispute forums
Desired Skills and Experience
This job will suit a candidate looking to build a long-term career in construction dispute resolution and expert witness services in Dubai and the Middle East.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3+ years’ experience with an engineering background (site and/or project controls exposure helpful)
- Some experience in delay analysis would be advantageous
- Exposure to planning software experience (Primavera P6 and/or Asta Powerproject)
- Previous site-based experience and strong understanding of design, engineering and project delivery
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence contributing to formal reports
- A highly analytical mindset and the ability to scrutinise complex documentation and delay events
- A clear interest in construction disputes, expert witness work and forensic delay analysis
Ideally experience in the UAE, although this is not a necessity.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Essential: Relevant construction / engineering degree (or equivalent)
- Desirable: Further study or professional memberships (e.g. MSc or LLM in Construction Law), though not essential and can be supported with in the future
