Project Details

Projects involve large-scale construction and engineering schemes across the UK and internationally. Assignments typically include forensic delay analysis and expert witness support on complex disputes within the building, civil engineering, and infrastructure sectors.

Responsibilities and Duties

As a Delay Associate Director, you will:

  • Lead forensic planning and delay analysis assignments for major construction disputes.
  • Prepare expert reports for adjudication, arbitration, and litigation proceedings.
  • Analyse programmes and schedules using CPM and forensic delay techniques.
  • Evaluate extension of time (EOT), prolongation, acceleration, and disruption claims.
  • Support expert witnesses in formal dispute proceedings.
  • Advise clients on schedule risk, mitigation strategies, and programme recovery.
  • Oversee multi-disciplinary teams across planning, cost, and legal functions.
  • Contribute to business development and networking activities within the disputes sector.
  • Mentor and guide junior planning and delay professionals.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Approximately 10+ years’ experience in construction or engineering, specialising in planning, delay analysis, or forensic scheduling.
  • Proven record of delivering delay and disruption analyses on complex projects.
  • Deep understanding of critical path method (CPM), time impact analysis (TIA), and scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Familiarity with standard forms of contract (NEC, JCT, FIDIC) and dispute resolution procedures.
  • Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.
  • Previous consultancy or expert witness experience preferred.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body such as APM, CIOB, RICS, or SCL desirable.
  • Additional accreditation or training in planning or forensic analysis (AACE, PMI-SP) advantageous.
