Director - Claims
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Consultant or Associate Director to join our busy and growing consultancy with an office in Toronto, specialising in claims and dispute resolution.

Project Details
The role is with a respected multi-disciplinary project management consultancy that applies practical, hands-on experience to support clients in the resources, power, and infrastructure sectors.
As an Associate Director, you will collaborate with our in-house claims and disputes specialists, recognised for their deep subject matter expertise.
The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in preparing, analysing, and resolving construction claims, as well as confidence in contributing to business development efforts.
Candidates must be currently residing in Canada and possess a strong understanding of the local market.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Prepare and evaluate construction claims with precision and attention to detail
- Analyse project documentation and develop deliverables such as claims reports, expert witness reports, and supporting documentation for use in dispute resolution processes including mediation, arbitration, or litigation
- Collaborate with legal teams by supplying clear, well-substantiated evidence to support client positions
- Lead client mandates by managing deliverables, timelines, and budgets, while guiding junior and intermediate consultants
- Provide mentorship and professional development for team members, fostering a collaborative work environment
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and assist with proposal development
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities with government agencies, private sector clients, contractors, engineering firms, and legal practices
Desired Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in the construction industry
- Demonstrated business development capabilities and solid knowledge of the Canadian market
- In-depth experience in claims preparation and evaluation
- Familiarity with a range of dispute resolution processes, including negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation
- Skilled in drafting persuasive and technically sound expert reports
- Strong analytical, writing, and research skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation abilities
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field
- A Master's degree in Construction Law is highly desirable, though not mandatory
