New Estimator job vacancy with a premium cost management consultancy firm in Victoria, British Columbia.

The role will involve preparing estimates in accordance with the CIQS Rules of Measurement.

Project Details

The estimator will be preparing construction cost estimates at various design and construction stages for a wide range of building and infrastructure projects.

The project portfolio includes the construction of mixed-use projects, commercial, offices, institutional and residential projects.

You will be based at employer’s office in Victoria, British Columbia with possibility to work from home as this premium cost consultancy supports hybrid working arrangements. 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Preparing cost estimates from feasibility through to pre-tender stages
  • Developing unit cost rates from first principles
  • Preparing and issuing reports to clients to support cost estimates
  • Liaison and correspondence with client and design teams
  • Liaison with supply chain to gather cost information to evidence and support estimates
  • Assist in preparation in change order review analysis
  • Preparation of life cycle cost estimates

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of all classes of estimates from conceptual to pre-tender estimates for various types of projects
  • Great oral communication and report writing skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and ability to work to own initiatives
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills combined with sound judgement and initiative
  • Demonstrates attention to detail to produce quality work
  • Ability to organise and prioritise work

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • University Degree or equivalent to any of the following, Quantity Surveying, Construction, and Structural and Civil Engineering
  • Working towards Professional accreditation (CIQS, PQS, MRICS)
