An intermediate Quantity Surveying role exists to act as the number 2 in charge of projects within the built environment valued between £50m - £150m within the central London area. You will assist the Senior Quantity Surveyor in delivering complex and large scale projects, providing day-to-day commercial and contractual support whilst taking sole responsibility for a number of specific packages relating to the project.

The hiring company are a leading main contractor within the London built environment. Typical projects that the company are delivering range in value between £50m - £150m and span across the full breadth of the built environment; from schools to large high end residential properties as well as large mixed use developments including commercial properties.

Responsibilities and Duties

As Quantity Surveyor on this project, you will work closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor and report into the Commercial Manager in relation to progress and development. You will primarily be involved in the post contract side of the project, however in the future, you may be asked to get involved in pre-contract duties:

Typical duties will include:

• Providing commercial support to Design and Contract Staff;
• preparing valuations for interim application for payment including variations
• preparing, negotiating and agreeing final accounts and contra charges;
• preparing sub-contract enquiries and order documentation;
• re-measurement of Bills of Quantities;
• preparing cost budgets and prices for contract variations;
• preparing subcontract valuation and payment certificates;
• monitoring costs to ensure budgets are met;
• preparation of contract claims information;
• evaluating/selecting subcontract tenders;
• checking material sizes and quantities for procurement;
• setting up and maintaining contract files

Desired Skills and Experience

- Previous experience in an intermediate level with a reputable main contractor
- Ideally you will be able to demonstrate previous experience of working on large scale projects within the built environment
- Ability to follow systems and procedures
- Highly organised and strong planning skills
- Confident personality and decisive nature

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

• A formal qualification in Quantity Surveying or other relevant subject
