An intermediate level Quantity Surveyor is required to join a leading regional main contractor based in Birmingham. You will work on new build and refurbishment projects typically valued between £1m - £6m in the West Midlands region.  The successful candidate will be expected to be able to take day to day charge of projects and be the lead commercial contact on site for the project. You will have support from the Managing QS when required.

Projects within this division of the business are typically valued between £1 - £6m. You will be site based and potentially may be involved on more than one project based on the size and complexity of the projects.

  • Industrial & Commercial
  • Leisure & retail
  • Heritage
  • Framework Agreements

Responsibilities and Duties

You will be site based and ultimately report to the Managing Quantity Surveyor for the division. Depending on the size of projects, you may be assigned a junior QS to work with you on projects. You will be the lead commercial contact on your project(s) and typical duties will include:

  •  Sub contractor management
  •  Managing payments
  •  Valuations
  •  Financial reporting
  •  Attending site meetings
  •  Dealing with variation

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Candidates will already have some experience of working in a Quantity Surveying role and should have the ability to manage projects or packages of work over £1m
  • Candidates who have experience working on projects in the built environment rather than on civils projects are desired
  • Some experience on refurbishment projects would be advantageous
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills are essential
  • Confident, professional and enthusiastic personality
  • Excellent written and verbal English is essential
