An expanding Consultancy specialising in Risk & Valuations within the oil & gas sector requires a Lead Estimator, reporting to business director to lead a team of valuation experts. The position could be home based within UK however requires extensive travel with 15+ weeks / per year spent overseas often for several weeks at a time. The company could also consider suitable candidates who currently reside elsewhere in the World, ideally in SE Asia, Middle East or South Africa.

 



Project Details

Our client is engaged by oil & gas companies or Insurance brokers in the oil & gas sector to carry out surveying and valuation exercises on company’s assets such as refineries, oil platforms, buildings, telecommunications and control systems etc. Often these assets are valued in many millions / billions of US$ therefore surveying on site can take several weeks.

Responsibilities and Duties

Primary responsibilities include the surveying of assets and preparation of Valuation Reports using various methodologies but principally "replacement as new pricing". This report is used for the purposes of insuring the oil & gas, power generation, distribution and chemical/petrochemical facilities and associated assets.

The job will involve extensive overseas travel to South-east Asia, Africa and the Middle East generally for periods of between one to five weeks.

The successful candidate will lead a team of Estimators on various assignments throughout the year.

Desired Skills and Experience

The candidate must have a strong technical knowledge of Mechanical Engineering. Ideally a Degree in Mechanical Engineering however extensive experience of working on projects in the oil & gas sector would also be suitable.

The candidate should have some experience in estimating and / or providing reports based on plans and assessing components to provide accurate valuations.

Specific experience in valuation reports would be an advantage, however full training can be given for a candidate with transferable skills.

Candidates with previous overseas experience highly desired however this is not essential.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

Degree (or similar equivalent) qualification in Mechanical Engineering is preferred but essential for the candidates with the suitable experience.
