Manager of Airside Electrical Systems job to have the responsibility for the installation and electrical maintenance of airfield lighting. Responsibility will also include maintaining premier performance and managing other critical airside electrical assets at the Toronto Airport.

You will be reporting to the Director and Aviation Infrastructure and must ensure ongoing compliance with all regulatory and audit requirements (e.g. TP312, Transport Canada, SMS, etc.).

Project Details

As the Manager of Airside Electrical Systems you will have the responsibility of the installation, replacement, and maintenance of airfield lighting.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Managing the analysis of Airport Electrical Systems and performance and propose improvements.
  • Managing the maintenance of short-, medium- and long-term lifecycles of Airport Electrical Systems.
  • Act in accordance with the health and safety and company policies, rules, and regulations (e.g., TP312, Transport Canada, Safety Management Systems, etc.)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Managing procedures and documentation.
  • Provide training, coaching, and managing the team.
  • Manage airfield lighting spending.
  • Propose and prepare capital project spending plans related to airfield lighting.
  • Work with partners and specialist electrical airport lighting subcontractors to prepare projects for delivery and oversee their completion.
  • Supervise and maintain the highest standards of electrical airside systems work.
  • Liaise and work with other divisions including the engineering department to resolve technical issues relating to airside electrical systems.

Desired Skills and Experience

The Manager of Airside Electrical Systems job is a management job requiring:

  • At least 10 years of experience within the electrical field or in a comparable role; these sectors include utilities, transport/transit, power, rail, road/highway, and water, based in Canada.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience working with highly skilled and motivated teams.

Airside Electric Systems installation / replacement / maintenance experience is highly desirable. In addition to having this type of project experience, suitable candidates must also have had experience being responsible for project management and having led and managed a team. In particular, this must include:

  • Able to analyse Airport Electrical Systems and project performance to ensure improvements.
  • Experienced in maintaining various lifecycles of projects.
  • Experienced in health and safety and company policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Experienced in knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Experienced in management of procedures and documentation.
  • Experienced in business plans and proposals regarding project spending.
  • Experienced in managing project spending.
  • Experienced in capital project spending plans.
  • Experience in working with partners and electrical specialist subcontractors to deliver prepare delivery for projects and oversee their completion.
  • Experienced in liaising with additional divisions of the project such as the engineering department to resolve technical issues relating to the project.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite products including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Understanding of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARS), Transport Canada Aerodrome Standards and Recommended Practises and TP321 preferred.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • A post-secondary degree in Electrical Engineering, and/or licensed journeyman electrician are desirable.
  • A valid Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Facilities Management administrator (FMA) is desirable, this can also be obtained once appointed to position.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and retain “DA” Airside Vehicle Operating Permit (AVOP) within 30 days of appointment to position.
  • Able to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position.
