A Managing Quantity Surveyor is required to join a UK leading civil and infrastructure contractor to work on a major motorway scheme in North East Birmingham. The project is currently in the early contractor / development phase, with construction due to start in September 2016. The project is currently predicted to be circa £150m in value.

Responsibilities and Duties

  •  To develop and manage project commercial strategy on a major highway project - Manage and check all contract arrangements
  •  Oversee the reporting on the project financial position
  •  Supervise project cash flow
  •  Be able to supervise the pricing of major variations and extra works
  •  Prepare commercial reports for internal & external use
  •  Provide expert contractual, financial and commercial advice to the project team;
  •  Effective management of risk and opportunities
  •  Ability to be able to build a claims narrative if and when required
  •  Manage and supervise the site based commercial team

Desired Skills and Experience

  •  Proven experience working as a Senior / Managing Quantity Surveyor in a large construction company
  •  Highway project experience is essential - A confident communicator with all members of staff; a team player. You must have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Maintain good working relationships with colleagues, clients, and suppliers and have a personable character

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  •  Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent is desired, but not essential
