Land Yourself a Quantity Surveying role in Dubai before the New Year

December in the Middle East is often a frustrating time for recruiters and construction employers who are trying to find candidates for key roles in Quantity Surveying, Project Management and Engineering. There is still a steady stream of vacancies coming in this time of year and, the candidates needed for these positions are required urgently.

However, there is always a shortage of candidates available to start work in December with people often preferring to delay starting their new job into the New Year. The festive and New Year period is also extremely popular for expatriate staff taking annual leave and often leaving the region for a prolonged period of time which can mean the speed of the decision-making process on urgent vacancies slows down.

When interviewing construction and quantity surveying candidates, a critical part of the information we require is the date when they are available to start work.  Despite many answering with their relevant notice period of 1 month, this is often not quite accurate at this time of year.

When the exact availability is probed further, it seems that many candidates have holidays booked over the Christmas and New Year period and cannot actually start until the 1st or 2nd week in the New Year. In some cases this extra couple of weeks turnaround can rule a candidate out for a client due to needing them to start work sooner.

Every year around November, I seem to have a couple of very attractive vacancies that are left vacant for longer than usual and this year is no different.

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Dubai - PQS - 38k - 44k AED per Month + Flights + Medical
A Senior Quantity Surveyor is required to work for a UK managed cost management consultancy based in Dubai. The successful candidate will work in a site based, post contract role on an airport project in Dubai.

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Dubai - PQS - 33K - 38K AED  per month + Flights + Medical
A Senior Quantity Surveyor with significant experience in pre-contract work including cost planning, is required to work for a large British managed Cost Management Consultancy in Dubai, UAE. The successful candidate will initially be involved heavily on pre contract work including major airport projects in Dubai.
