MBRC in Dubai - Global Opportunities for Building Engineers and Civil Engineers!

Posted by Richard Poulter on Friday, August 30, 2013

For those of you that thought the boom years of construction in Dubai were over, think again! Things may have looked gloomy for a while back in 2008, but plans are now afoot for many new exciting projects including the MBRC or Mohammed Bin Rashid City.

This multi-billion dollar planned mixed use development will attempt to redefine the concept of urban development and place a firm focus on the emerging needs of the city, whilst further underlining Dubai's position as a global business and leisure hub. This gargantuan project, the first phase of which will only be completed in 7 years will include 4 major elements:

Family Tourism: Including a park larger than Hyde Park in London; the ability to receive 35 million visitors annually plus the largest leisure and entertainment complex in the MENA region which has been established in collaboration with Universal Studios (and will include more than 100 new hotels)

Retail: Including the Mall of the World, planned to be (you guessed it) the largest mall in the World!

Arts: Including the largest area for art galleries in the MENA region, and “Cultural Crossing” which will connect the existing areas of Downtown Dubai (location of the current tallest building, Burj Khalifa and Business Bay) to the rest of Mohammed Bin Rashid City.

Construction work has started!
Over the past year, Dubai’s property market has begun recovering strongly.  This has encouraged two of the Emirate’s major real estate developers to form a joint venture in order to develop the first phase of MBRC. They plan to turn 4 million square metres of prime freehold land into an exclusive location including key leisure and retail attractions surrounded by spacious residential communities near the city's downtown area. This will form the cornerstone of the planned tourism and retail district. The project will feature 1,500 luxury villas; 7km of manmade lagoons and beaches and also retail, leisure and sports amenities. Featuring vast stretches of landscaped parks and gardens, walkways and extensive open areas, the project hopes to serve as a rejuvenating getaway nestled in the heart of the city. Construction work has begun with the installation of the residential sales office.
