The UK continues to face skills shortage issues in various locations of the nation. It is partly this issue that has seen Maxim Recruitment able to find jobs in the UK for commercial professionals currently in the Oil & Gas sector, who have previously been fairly tricky to place within a new job in a different sector. Where we are seeing most of our success in this regard, is finding jobs for Quantity Surveyors and Estimators (at various levels) who are interested in working in the utilities sector in the UK. Projects will include pipeline, waste and clean water treatment plants, and associated civils elements that form the overall construction process on these projects on large utilities frameworks.
The utilities sector is also one in which if you want to work for a consultancy (which is the type of employer I tend to focus on as a client base, with my colleagues recruiting for contractors), a background working for main contractors is often equally as sought after as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator with consultancy or client side experience. In some cases, it is often even preferred to have at least some main contracting experience on your CV.
It is quite refreshing for employers to tell us that they will consider Quantity Surveyors and Estimators with Oil & Gas backgrounds, to work in the UK in a different sector. In the past we had a continuing pattern of struggling to find jobs for commercial staff who worked in the Oil & Gas sector at the time, or rather had the majority of their experience in that sector. In recent weeks I have actively pursued commercial staff with Oil & Gas sector experience, as it is a skill-set that we have managed to recruit successfully and place within the utilities sector in the UK construction market within the last 6 months.
If you are a commercial professional who is working within the Oil & Gas sector, wanting to find work with a reputable company in the UK in the utilities sector, get in touch with us. On top of this, as a company with experience recruiting overseas as well as in the UK, we still have continued success with assisting people currently working overseas who want to relocate to the UK, or who have moved back to the UK recently to find work. This is something we do on an ongoing basis and will continue to do so.
The locations where we have current opportunities in the UK utilities sector are in the North West, London, East Anglia, and Berkshire. This is an ongoing, changing requirement however, so do get in touch if you are interested in any other location as we have had opportunities as high as Glasgow, all the way down to the South West in the utilities sector.
Our website is regularly updated with new jobs, please search below to browse by location, sector or type of job if you are interested in applying.
