Openings for Construction Professionals in West Midlands & London

Posted by Steve Thomas on Monday, September 26, 2016

For professionals in the construction industry, quantity surveyors, planners, project managers and the like, when your contract comes to an end or you need to move for other reasons, one thing you want to be sure of is a buoyant market place. If the industry is in a positive place, it means there are more opportunities for you and less restrictions where you head next.

According to the Barbour Market Review for July (published in August) despite slight drops in activity, there is still plenty happening in the construction sector. Surprisingly the West Midlands came out streets ahead of everywhere else, including London.

The Signs

The industry in the Midlands has plenty going on from the development of the Jaguar/Land Rover factory to the Curzon Street project. Birmingham's injection of £1b of funding for this latter development is also reassuring. This project includes commercial buildings, retail, housing and the new Curzon Street station and are due to HS2. Currently, this is the best place in the country to find an abundance of opportunities.

London Calling

Despite the statistics, London looks as though it will still have plenty to offer. With builds like the Padding Cube in for planning, once passed this will generate many positions for quantity surveyors, planners, project managers and construction security professionals. This tower will offer mixed facilities with 14 storeys of office space plus retail spaces as well as a public plaza and a new underground station for the Bakerloo Line.

Bishopgate Tower is also offering up more opportunities. This 64 storey office space has been named a 'skyscraper'; the sky should be the limit for the industry too.

Time to Hook Up

These are just the tip of the iceberg so if you are looking for change, then make the most of these opportunities and others as they come up. We always have a healthy selection of roles at many levels from senior consultants to junior quantity surveyors and many in between.

Just make sure you are in at the sharp end, upload your CV to our site if you haven't already done so. Keep an eye on our vacancy pages too.
