Canada is home to a very exciting aviation industry, both within specialist aerospace and within the construction infrastructure investment required to build, operate and maintain international airports.  In 2020, the Canadian aerospace sector contributed more than $22 billion to the country's GDP.  According to Air Transport of Canada, by 2037, passenger journeys are projected to increase by over 39.8 million more passenger journeys.

Toronto Pearson International Airport is the largest and busiest airport in Canada, with over 13.3 million passengers handled in 2020. The same year generated a revenue of 823.5 million Canadian dollars. The airport is operated by Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA). At Toronto Pearson, Canada's top international hub airport, over 1,400 GTAA staff continuously collaborate with their partners and agencies to provide a safe and welcoming passenger experience.

The GTAA have had a number of job vacancies recently related to the aviation construction sector, that have included baggage handling, electrical systems managers, to capital planning specialists.

Baggage Handling

Project Managers are a critically important part of any construction project. The GTAA have recently secured the services of a strong project and programme manager to take responsibility for managing the development of the baggage handling systems infrastructure.

Airfield Lighting & Electrical Systems

In an advanced airport environment such as Toronto Pearson Airport, it will come as no surprise that the maintenance and upgrade of airport lighting systems are of critical importance.  They have recently secured the services of an experienced manager to take responsibility for the installation, replacement and maintenance of airfield lighting and further electrical assets.  

Capital Project Planning – LIVE VACANCY

One exciting job vacancy that is yet to be filled is a Capital Project Planning Manager position.
This managerial role will entail the development, design, and implementation of Capital Planning for the airport and their future plans for investment and construction works. The projects to be planned will be ongoing and include a multi-year $6b+ programme to renew existing facilities and accommodate expected growth. This impressive role will require a strategic-orientated individual, one who is able to grasp design and development concepts and best practice and be able to transform them into objective deliverables. This job is perfect for an individual who loves to think on their feet and take initiative, providing exciting new challenges to tackle.
