Operations Director

One of a number of blue chip client side project management jobs we are recruiting for, this is a fabulous opportunity for an experienced and dynamic Operations Director to lead our client’s Asia Pacific operations.

This key leadership role combines technical and commercial responsibilities, requiring a seasoned professional preferably with a deep understanding of airport systems, project delivery, and strategic development.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing diverse teams, overseeing large-scale projects, and navigating the regulatory environment.

A keen interest in airport design and construction, coupled with a willingness to learn about AI and emerging technologies, is essential.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Oversee and lead the operational activities within the Asia Pacific region, ensuring project delivery excellence and client satisfaction.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders
• Develop project scopes, timelines, budgets and resource plans
• Ensure adherence to local regulations, international standards, and client requirements
• Manage risk mitigation strategies and problem solving throughout the project lifecycle
• Lead high level planning, feasibility studies, master planning, and infrastructure development projects.
• Communicate effectively with clients, authorities and project teams
• Monitor project progress, prepare reports, and present updates to stakeholders
• Promote safety, sustainability and innovative solutions in project delivery
• Drive business growth through effective bidding, proposal development and client relationship management.
• Ensure all projects comply with relevant regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders on regulatory compliance, risk management, and legal matters pertinent to airport or other major infrastructure projects.
• Maintain a forward-looking approach to industry trends, including emerging technologies such as AI, and promote their integration into project solutions.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and learning within the team.

Desired Skills and Experience

• 15 to 20 years of relevant industry experience, preferably within airport consultancy, engineering or related fields.
• Proven track record of delivering large scale projects
• Experience in delivering baggage handling, mechanical systems or similar infrastructure.
• Strong experience in project delivery, capacity planning infrastructure development and preferably landside and airside operations.
• Demonstrable experience managing large, multidisciplinary teams across different countries or regions.
• Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks and safety standards.
• Bidding, proposal development, and client relationship management skills.
• High level development experience with a strategic and commercial mindset.
• Ability to learn quickly about new concepts, including airport design and construction, and interest in integrating emerging technologies like AI.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Commercial acumen with a focus on business growth and profitability.
• Adaptability and willingness to continuously learn and evolve in a dynamic industry.
• Fluency in English; additional languages relevant to the Asia Pacific region are a plus.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in airport management, planning and or aviation science related fields, or in built environment related disciplines such as project construction management, architectural, engineering, quantity surveying
