Planning Director
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Planning Director to establish and lead a new Dublin office for a growing specialist consultancy.
This senior role combines business leadership, client development and delivery of planning consultancy services across major infrastructure and construction projects in Ireland.
Responsibilities and Duties
This Planning Director job in Dublin is a senior appointment suited to a planning professional with the credibility to lead client delivery while also building a new office in the Irish market.
- Establish and grow the Dublin office, developing local capability and building strong client relationships in Ireland
- Lead the delivery of planning consultancy services across major infrastructure and construction projects
- Provide senior guidance on programme development, scheduling, project controls and risk management
- Advise clients on contract management issues that affect programme, change, entitlement and project performance
- Support clients in managing change, delay risk, claims-related issues and wider project controls challenges
- Represent the business within the Irish market and identify new business opportunities
- Build, mentor and develop a high-performing local planning team as the office expands
- Coordinate closely with UK leadership to align delivery standards, technical quality and resourcing
- Support bids, proposals, presentations and strategic growth plans for the Dublin office
- Act as a trusted senior adviser to clients on planning, programme and project performance matters
Desired Skills and Experience
This Planning Director role would suit a highly experienced construction planning professional with strong Irish market knowledge and the ability to operate autonomously in a senior client-facing role.
- Around 15 years or more of experience in construction planning, ideally gained with a consultancy and/or Tier 1 contractor
- Strong knowledge of NEC, Irish Public Works Contracts, JCT or similar forms of contract
- Proven ability to lead teams and deliver planning consultancy services on complex projects
- Strong understanding of programme development, scheduling, project controls, change management and risk
- Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills
- Confident operating at senior level with autonomy, accountability and sound judgement
- Strong client-facing capability and experience developing work-winning relationships
- Ability to build and mentor a high-performing planning team
- Detailed knowledge of the Irish construction market is essential
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
Candidates for this Planning Director job in Dublin should be able to demonstrate strong professional credibility and relevant academic qualifications.
- Chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation is essential
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline is preferred
- Additional qualifications in planning, project controls, construction law or dispute resolution would be advantageous
