A Planning Engineer of high calibre and seniority is needed for a leading civils and rail contractor operating in London, the South and the Midlands.  Premium work and salary!

Project Details

Senior level Planning Engineer job role to work on multiple rail civil engineering projects with major clients in Central London.  Additional locations include South London, Berkshire, Bedfordshire, Hampshire, Heathrow Airport, Gatwick Airport and of course remote working from home.
Clients of this major contractor include Transport for London (TFL) Underground and Overground projects under NEC contracts, Heathrow Airport, Gatwick Airport, Network Rail and Highways England.

Responsibilities and Duties

Planning Engineer Job Duties include managing Primavera P6 related planning at a high level.
Managing junior 'Primavera Jockey' staff to input data and help build up a detailed data based system.
Strategic use and deeper implementation of Primavera usage and to implement its outputs across all the contractor's active and pending civil engineering sites.
Dedicated planning role to assist the site Technicians and Project Manager on each site and work with the Area Directors to ensure maximum efficiency, safety and quality on live projects.
Develop high level master programs for tendered and awarded projects
Develop project controls and critical paths to assist live site schemes of work
Establish and maintain the project schedule on multiple civil engineering projects.
Build and maintain strategic relationships with external customers.
Responsibility to review the planning process and report project status to senior management.
Perform analysis of work and develop further strategies that can potentially benefit the smooth running and efficiency of projects
Work with the pre-construction & live site teams to meet project objectives

Desired Skills and Experience

Experience a planning function for around 10 years, although capability and quality of experience in construction planning is much more important
Experience of planning and scheduling in a civils or rail or other time and safety critical environment
Some Civil engineering infrastructure contracting experience is essential although specialist consultancy or rail or airport or related experience in addition is desirable.
Management experience in mentoring planners/ production teams
Able to exhibit a working knowledge in all aspects of design, procurement, production and commissioning
Excellent organisational skills and ability to adhere to strict deadlines on a daily & weekly basis

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

An engineering degree is desirable
Chartership is desirable
