Project Monitor
An excellent Project Monitoring job opportunity is available for a construction professional with 1–3 years’ experience, ideally gained on residential construction projects.
The successful candidate will support project monitoring, reporting, site inspections and risk review work for residential developments.
Project Details
The successful candidate will work on residential construction projects, likely including apartment schemes, condominium developments, housing projects and mixed-use residential developments.
The role will involve supporting project monitoring activity, reviewing project progress and assisting with reporting to help ensure projects are being delivered in line with cost, time and quality expectations.
Responsibilities and Duties
The successful candidate will support project monitoring services on residential construction projects and assist senior colleagues with clear, accurate and timely reporting.
- Assist with site inspections on residential construction projects
- Review project progress against programme, budget and funding requirements
- Help prepare project monitoring reports for lenders, funders and other stakeholders
- Assist with reviewing construction budgets, cost reports, drawdown requests and change orders
- Identify and report potential project risks relating to cost, programme, quality or delivery
- Liaise professionally with developers, contractors, consultants and client representatives
- Support senior team members with technical due diligence and project advisory services
- Review contract documentation, consultant reports and project information
- Maintain accurate project records and help ensure reports are completed to a high professional standard
- Develop technical and commercial knowledge within project monitoring and construction consultancy services
Desired Skills and Experience
The successful candidate should have 1–3 years’ relevant construction industry experience and ideally some exposure to residential projects.
- 1–3 years’ experience in construction, project monitoring, quantity surveying, project management, cost consulting or a related role
- Residential construction experience is strongly preferred
- Some understanding of construction costs, programmes and project delivery
- Exposure to cost reports, payment applications, drawdown requests or progress reporting would be advantageous
- Ability to identify project issues and communicate them clearly
- Good written communication and report writing skills
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Experience working for a construction consultancy, developer, contractor, cost consultancy or lender’s technical advisor would be suitable
- Professional, organised and client-facing approach
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- A degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building Surveying, Engineering, Architecture or a related construction discipline is preferred
- Professional membership or progress towards membership such as MRICS, PQS, CIQS, PMP or similar would be advantageous
- Candidates with relevant residential construction experience may also be considered
