Urgent Senior Quantity Surveyor or Project Quantity Surveyor level job role to be based on a major sports stadia building construction project in south west London.

Project Details

Senior Quantity Surveyor job to be based as the site Project Quantity Surveyor on the construction of a major sporting stadia building project in south west London.

Project value over 2 years will be at least GBP200 million in value and the project includes a variety of ambitious milestones in terms of schedule and cost.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor / Senior QS will be based on site on the project to ensure all commercial, contractual and relationship issues are well managed.

The Senior QS / Project QS will work closely with the company Commercial Manager to manage risk, relationships, contractual and commercial matters to the highest standard.

As you would expect, cost, time and risk related contractual matters are critical aspects of the project and a Senior Quantity of the highest standard is needed to join the commercial team to manage these factors successfully.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Senior QS will be working on a a premium stadia building construction project in London, and will be responsible for the full range of building contractor post contract Quantity Surveying duties including;

  • a major focus on procurement including subcontractors, services and managing associated risk, cost and contractual arrangements
  • managing client relationship and related interface
  • contract administration of the JCT construction contract

In addition, additional Senior QS duties will include:

  • Management of sub-contractors
  • Dealing with contractual issues
  • Managing reports
  • Standing in for the Commercial Manager where required
  • Managing junior members of the commercial team

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Previous building contracting experience working on major build projects for a high calibre main contractor working in the UK is essential
  • Specific experience working on stadia, sporting, olympic, velodrome, football stadia or equivalent types of projects is desirable and advantageous
  • Experience of working on major building construction projects on commercial and/or mixed use developments is also acceptable
  • Strong demonstrable experience of administering the JCT (Joint Contracts Tribunal) form of construction contract is essential
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • IT literate
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Team player

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • A degree in quantity surveying or commercial management is preferred
  • MRICS or equivalent or working towards Chartership is desirable
