An experienced highways or civil engineering QA / Quality Assurance Manager is required in Vancouver to join a civil engineering consultancy team, focusing on highways and civil infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all quality assurance processes are correctly established, implemented, and maintained on a major project.

Project Details

As Quality Assurance Manager / Quality Manager, you will be based on a long-term major highway scheme that includes:

  • New major highway exchanges
  • Highway widening
  • Replacement and improvement of highway overpass structures

The project recently started on site and is now ready for a quality management plan to be fully implemented

Responsibilities and Duties

As Quality Assurance Manager, you will be site based on a major highway project in Vancouver undertaking the following job duties:

  • Review, audit, and monitor contractor quality management systems and procedures to ensure compliance with contractual and industry standards.
  • Undertake client-side auditing of Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) systems
  • Taking a lead to develop the quality management plan for the owner’s representative team
  • Undertake regular site inspections to verify construction activities are being delivered in accordance with approved quality systems.
  • Provide detailed QA reports and feedback to both the client and internal management teams.
  • Liaise with contractors, consultants, and client stakeholders to address quality-related issues and drive corrective actions where required.
  • Monitor project documentation, inspection test plans, and records to ensure proper implementation and traceability.
  • Champion best practices in quality assurance and promote continuous improvement across projects.

Desired Skills and Experience

Suitable Quality Assurance Manager candidates will be experience in

  • Reviewing, auditing, and monitoring contractor quality management systems and procedures to ensure compliance
  • Be experienced in undertaking client-side auditing of Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) systems
  • Have experience of taking a lead to develop the quality management plan for the owner’s representative team
  • Be experienced in undertaking regular site inspections to verify construction activities are being delivered in accordance with approved quality systems.
  • Capable and competent in providing detailed QA reports and feedback to both the client and internal management teams.
  • Be demonstrably able to champion best practices in quality assurance and promote continuous improvement across projects.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is expected
  • Chartered Engineer (PEng) or equivalent is desirable.
  • Formal qualifications in Quality Management (e.g., ISO 9001 Lead Auditor) are preferred.
  • Valid Canadian driving licence, with flexibility to travel to project sites as required.
