Quality Technical Inspector
Opportunity for a Quality Technical Inspector (Clerk of Works) to deliver rigorous on-site inspections on fire remediation, recladding, and façade refurbishment as well as new-build commercial projects across North West London and nearby counties.
Ideal for inspectors progressing towards ICWCI, with support available to achieve full membership. Salary up to and above £55,000, depending on experience.
Project Details
Commercial new-build and refurbishment schemes with a strong pipeline of fire remediation, cladding replacement, and façade upgrades for tier-1 contractors across London, Buckinghamshire, and Berkshire, for this Clerk of Works job. Projects typically include office and mixed-use assets undergoing façade remediation to current fire-safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities and Duties
You will provide independent quality oversight on site, with emphasis on building safety:
- Inspect fire remediation, recladding and façade works, including interfaces, fixings, cavity barriers and fire-stopping
- Verify compliance with drawings, specifications, manufacturers’ details, and relevant standards
- Produce clear, high-quality site inspection reports with photographic evidence and actions for Employer's Agents and Project Managers
- Monitor workmanship, materials, and sequencing; raise and track non-conformances
- Liaise proactively with contractors, designers, and client teams to resolve issues early
- Undertake snagging and defects inspections and confirm close-out
- Support project quality plans and maintain accurate site records and filing systems
- Use tablet-based inspection software (e.g., Field View, PlanRadar) to record findings and KPIs
Desired Skills and Experience
- Proven site inspection experience on commercial refurbishment and new-build, with strong exposure to fire remediation, cladding replacement, and façade systems
- Robust understanding of fire-stopping details, cavity barriers, and envelope interfaces
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication; confident reporting and stakeholder engagement
- Knowledge of JCT & NEC forms of contract advantageous
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with Field View/PlanRadar highly desirable (training available)
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across London and the Home Counties
- Background in Site Management welcomed
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- ICWCI qualification (e.g., MICWCI, Assoc. ICWCI, LICWCI) desirable; support provided for suitable candidates
- IFE (fire engineering) qualification desirable but not essential
