Quantity Surveyor
Due to continued growth, the Mansfield office of a national civil engineering contractor is looking to hire a Quantity Surveyor. The successful candidate’s purpose will be to manage schemes from start up through to final accounts. The employers ideal candidate will come from a main / sub-contracting background and have specific experience on highways or structures.

Responsibilities and Duties
The successful candidate will report to the Commercial Manager and have sole responsibility for commercially leading schemes from start up through to final accounts, valued in the region of £500,000 up to several million GBP. Specific duties will include:
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety and environmental objectives
• Preparing plans, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities and other documentation
• On-site measurement and measurement of drawings as required
• Identifying potential risks and evaluate options for control
• On-going cost analysis of maintenance and repair work
• Feasibility studies of clients requests
• Preparation of estimates
• Analysing sub-contractors quotations
• Preparation and agreeing variation accounts
• Preparation and agreeing of interim valuations and final accounts
• Prepare and issue certification for contract payments to sub-contractors
• Providing evidence for resolution of disputes
• Ensure all work complies with quality, safety and environmental policies and the requirements of the company procedure
Desired Skills and Experience
- Candidates will need to have prior experience of working for a main / sub-contractor
- Previous project experience specific to highways and structures is desired. Other civil engineering related experience such as water / utilities may be considered
- Previous experience of using NEC forms of contract is desired
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Candidates will hold a formal qualification in Quantity Surveying or another relevant subject such as Civil Engineering. Ideally HND or above.
