An Exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join an established Chartered Cost consultancy based in Nottingham.

They are seeking a Quantity Surveyor from a PQS background, with aspirations to achieve Chartered status with RICS. Quantity Surveyor will be able to benefit from a proven track record of internal promotion and a robust APC training program.

Project Details

Quantity Surveyor will be a part of a supportive, ambitious, and growing consultancy, with opportunities for career advancement. Projects are typically long-term engagements, often secured through negotiated contracts or service frameworks.

While your base will be in our Nottingham office, you should be prepared to travel to project sites across the UK, making a valid driving license a requirement for this role.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Taking the lead on a range of construction projects and supervising the work of the assistants and apprentices in your team and helping them to fulfil their potential.
  • Acting as the principal point of contact with the project client and the other consultants on the design team.
  • Working independently and taking responsibility for the successful delivery of QS / PM / EA services on all projects you and your team are working on.
  • Actively looking to take on additional responsibility and able to stand in for the Associate or Senior QS when they are unavailable.
  • Acting as a Quantity Surveyor on traditional projects or Employer's Agent on Design and Build projects.
  • Following the company Quality Management System in the delivery of all services.
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously and developing excellent time management strategies.
  • Treating all clients to exceptional level of service.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in running own projects quantity surveying and / or project management for either a Private Practice, Construction Company or related organisation.
  • Proficiency in measurement, ideally using CostX Measurement Software.
  • Experience in running projects independently.
  • Strategically minded with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Skilled negotiator.
  • Driving licence and own car. Willingness to travel to sites across the UK as required

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Cost Management or a related field.
  • Working towards MRICS, or a commitment to achieve Chartered status within 3 years of starting at this company.
