A Quantity Surveyor with procurement experience is required by a specialist contractor working within the specialist areas of modular car park construction and off-highway car park related products and installations.

High value specialist works undertaken include the supply and installation of a variety of specialist products and solutions including: a full modular car park design, supply and installation service, full design, supply and installation of road and car park access control systems, barriers, floor mounted systems, height restriction systems, floor mounted acces control systems, speed restraint systems, pedestrian systems and dock roller systems for industrial environments.

The job role summary of the Quantity Surveyor with this exciting and dynamic construction company, is to assist with procurement and tender duties and to implement additional strategies to enhance the company's ability to provide a high quality, and profitable design, supply and installation service relating to the construction & installation of their market leading car park and off highway specialist services.

Responsibilities and Duties

Reporting to the company Commercial Manager / Head of Commercial, as Quantity Surveyor based in the Wolverhampton head office you will:

  • Resolve contractual and commercial scenarios
  • Discover areas that are not in-keeping with regulation practices
  •  Offer direction and instruction
  •  Undertake Financial risk assessment
  •  Review and develop operational process flows
  •  Ensure that all stakeholders understand and adhere to contractual obligations
  •  Ensure that the financial aspects and impact of a contract are clear
  •  Oversee financial KPIs
  •  Undertake monthly project account reporting

Additional Quantity Surveyor Job Role and Responsibilities Based from the Wolverhampton Office:

  • Work closely with and reporting into the Commercial Manager / Head of Commercial, you will assist in the development of, and implementation of procurement strategies in accordance with the project procurement and business strategy.
  • Run the tender process, where you will review consultant tender design, research and formulate tender bid lists for approval, formulate tender enquiries, compare tender returns through to package procurement recommendations and formulate  the Contract for execution
  • Undertake the procurement in accordance with the business policies and procedures, forms and adherence to legal obligations
  • Achieve best in class results in price, programme, quality and adherence to contract terms.
  • Work closely and influence key stakeholders to ensure that all stages of the package procurement process is delivered on time in line with the project Tender Event Schedule
  • Demonstrate the ability to proactively source the relevant supply chain to support the project and various package procurement strategies
  • Determine appropriate revenue recognition measures; ensure timely and accurate reporting of project costs, and monitor payables for project.
  • Guarantee project legal documents, permits, inspections etc., are completed and signed.
  • Work with the Head of Commercial to develop a cost-effective budget, schedule and tracking system for completion of multiple projects following a logical pattern for utilisation of resources.
  • Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client
  • Analyse outcomes and writing detailed progress reports;
  • Proactively manage material and work order exceptions and provide feedback to Project Management on critical information.

  • Use construction management knowledge to ensure the smooth transition to site and to final handover.
  • Prepare the site and liaise with other construction professionals such as architects, engineers, buyers, estimators and surveyors before construction work starts.

  • Maintain effective work systems and ensure that all correspondence and documentation is dealt with in a professional manner to meet audit requirements
  • Deal with all routine queries so that an appropriate response is provided
  • Weekly receipt of all purchase orders for the purposes of month end
  • Setting up new suppliers with all necessary paperwork, insurances etc. Ensure these are reviewed and checked accordingly
  • Perform other duties as required to insure the efficiency of the company
  • Read, understand & abstract technical information from drawings and specifications
  • Schedule materials, plant & labour requirements from drawings and specifications
  • Invoice Control and Payment Ledger
  • Establish excellent working relationships within the Supply Chain
  • Provide purchasing support to other functions within the business

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Construction related qualification highly desirable
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Particularly Excel)
  • CSCS Card preferred
  • Quantity Surveying Degree, HNC, HND or other accreditation strongly preferred
  • Supply Chain or Procurement related accreditation advantageous
