Senior Consultant Claims and Dispute Resolution job vacancy with a leading blue chip national and international construction claims and construction industry dispute consultancy.

Project Details

A Senior Consultant Claims and Dispute Resolution job role to work with a specialist team of construction experts.

The team works within the fields of construction sector procurement strategy, construction claims management and construction dispute resolution.

Your role will focus within the specialist construction claims and dispute resolution team, which works across the UK and also on international construction projects.

Within England, the construction claims and disputes team work on claims and disputes for clients based from specialist hubs in the major English cities of London, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds and also in the Scottish cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Birmingham in the West Midlands is one of the preferred locations for the Senior Claims and Dispute Resolution Consultant to be appointed and be based, as this will allow liaison in person (when safe to do so) with a number of nationally recognised experts already based from the claims and dispute hub in Birmingham, West Midlands. Additional possible locations to be based from include London, Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

In addition, strong construction claims and dispute resolution candidates based in other UK locations will be considered on the basis of being willing to travel as required for training, meetings and client presentations and meetings etc.

The porfolio of claims and dispute work undertaken include a range of civil and building projects located in the UK as well as a range of expert service assignments based in a range of international locations.

Building construction claim and dispute resolution work is often on major retail and health related projects.

Civil engineering construction claims and dispute work is often focused on major rail construction projects and also infrastructure construction and upgrade work for roads and utilities/water projects

Some limited and very short term international travel to visit projects or attend high level meetings may be necessary for large building or civil engineering claim assignments.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Senior Consultant Claims and Disputes job role and job duties include:

  • Supporting expert witnesses in arbitral or ligation processes
  • Presenting research findings orally and in written form to lawyers and senior client representatives with natural gravitas
  • Offering advice on a range of national and international construction contract forms and the process and procedures relating to them
  • Applying robust and methodical analytical skills, while adopting a flexible and adaptable approach to problems and client requests
  • Showing the ability to work alone without supervision to a high standard, but also able to integrate and support dispute team members and collaborate to complete complex tasks under tight time deadlines
  • Ability to provide claims and dispute consultancy advice on live contracts and projects in distress to a high professional standard
  • Able to deploy a broad range of prior experience from a variety construction sectors to construction dispute problems under consideration
  • Undertaking business development duties and activities with existing clients and developing new ones
  • Ability to prepare and support bid proposal work inassociation with Senior Management

  • Experience of construction dispute problems in a broad range of construction sectors (civils / build / rail etc)
  • Experience of or demponstrable committment to ndertake business development duties and activities with existing clients and develop new ones
  • Desirable to have experience of bid proposal work

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • A Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or Cost Management degree is expected
  • MSc Construction Law or similar postgraduate construction law qualification advantageous
