A prestigious London-based construction claims and disputes consultancy is seeking a Senior Delay Analyst to join their growing expert team. This role will particularly suit candidates who already have proven experience in construction claims, delay analysis, and forensic planning, and are now seeking to progress their career within a specialist disputes consultancy environment.

The consultancy will also consider experienced project planners or project managers from contractor, consultancy, or client organisations who have previous exposure to delay analysis and dispute resolution and who now wish to specialise full-time in this area. The successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative team delivering expert advice on a range of high-value and complex construction projects.

Project Details

The Senior Delay Analyst will be involved in providing delay analysis and programming expertise on construction and engineering projects across the UK and internationally. You will work with clients, contractors, and legal representatives on matters involving time-related disputes and formal dispute resolution proceedings.

Responsibilities and Duties

The role of Senior Delay Analyst will include:

  • Forensic investigation and analysis of project delays on major construction projects
  • Preparation of prospective and retrospective delay analyses using recognised methodologies
  • Assimilation and assessment of technical and factual evidence, including the development of delay narratives and detailed time impact analyses
  • Preparation of clear, concise reports suitable for use in negotiation and formal dispute resolution, including adjudication, arbitration, and litigation
  • Preparation or defence of extension of time (EOT) claims on behalf of employers, main contractors, and subcontractors
  • Preparation and review of project programmes, progress updates, and resequencing to mitigate delays on live projects
  • Working collaboratively with quantum and expert witness teams to deliver robust, evidence-based analysis
  • Mentoring junior analysts and contributing to the development of best practice within the delay team

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in the construction industry, ideally as a project planner, engineer, or project manager
  • Experience in construction claims and disputes
  • Excellent understanding of planning and scheduling software including Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, and Microsoft Project
  • Good working knowledge of standard forms of contract including JCT and NEC
  • A sound understanding of construction law and principles relating to delay and disruption
  • Strong analytical, report-writing, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical matters clearly
  • A proactive approach to managing multiple assignments and meeting client deadlines
  • Capable of both independent work and effective collaboration within a multidisciplinary team

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Degree qualified in a construction-related discipline (e.g. Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management)
  • A relevant MSc in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution or similar is a strong advantage
  • Professional membership (e.g. CIOB,,SCL) would be beneficial but not essential
