New Senior Quantity Surveyor position with a professional quantity surveying cost consultancy firm in Langley, British Columbia.

This opportunity is suitable for experienced Quantity Surveyor candidates with Canadian experience who can hit the ground running.

Only candidates who are legally eligible to work in Canada will be considered.

Project Details

Senior Quantity Surveyor should have a solid understanding of the construction industry, estimating, budgeting, planning, and payment scheduling.

You may work on a number of concurrent projects at different stages of completion and handle a range of complicated situations to a successful conclusion. This is a Langley-based position.

Successful Senior Quantity Surveyor candidates will receive a good compensation package and benefit from continuous professional development.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Support the delivery of a full range of Quantity Surveying and Cost Consulting Services to new and existing clients.
  • Support the preparation of cost estimates at various stages of the design process, from conceptual design to the pre-tender stage.
  • Aid the analysis of costs between estimate stages and those of comparable projects.
  • Quantify materials to prepare cost estimates in accordance with the CIQS Rules of Measurement and best practice.
    Co-ordinating with and/or supervising the activities of other staff
  • Lead research activities on prices, market trends, alternates method of construction.
  • Support Quality Control and Assurance protocols
  • Liaising with clients

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of Canadian experience
  • An understanding of the Canadian construction market and various practices used within it.
  • Senior level understanding of construction estimating, budgeting, and planning.
  • Knowledge of CIQS standard method of measurement (elemental/trade)
  • A working knowledge of the construction industry, including development, contracting, and consulting sectors.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Great team player

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • University Degree or equivalent to any of the following, Quantity Surveying, Construction, and Structural and Civil Engineering
  • A member of the MRICS or CIQS would be ideal
