Senior Quantity Surveyor

A major house builder that operates in the Midlands, South East and North West of England is looking to hire a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work on developments in Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.

The company's offices are based in Rugby, Warwickshire. However the successful candidate will be largely site based on sites South of Rugby in Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.

Project Details

The successful candidate will work within the companies East division and projects will be located between Cambridge and Banbury. Projects will largely be plots of housing developments ranging from 1 bed to 5 bed builds.

Responsibilities and Duties

The successful candidate will report to the Commercial Manager and work on one or more sites with the region specified. Specific duties will include:

• Working as a senior member of the commercial team in take off's, CVR's, cost planning, and final accounts.
• Assisting in the preparation of tenders and contract documents, including bills of quantities
•  Assisting with the analysis of construction estimates, order book and authorised costs
• Partake in commercial activities for all schemes / projects -Timely agreement of weekly cost and value reports
•  Accurate administration of operational data and job valuation
•  Ensure that wages and sub-contract payments are calculated in accordance with procedures
•  Collate financial information for audits
•  Mentoring / Managing junior QS's where applicable

Desired Skills and Experience

•  Candidates will ideally have experience of working on new build residential projects, however candidates with any building project experience will be considered
•  Candidates with previous experience of working for a property developer are preferred, however candidates from a main contracting background will be considered
•  Previous experience of being the lead commercial contact on site for housing developments of a reasonable size
•  Candidates with pre and post contract experience are preferred

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

•  Candidates will be educated to HND level or similar equivalent and above
