A London-based claims and disputes consultancy is seeking a Senior Quantum Consultant to join their growing specialist team of quantum consultants, delay analysis and expert witnesses. You will play a key role in advising clients and legal teams on complex construction projects across the UK and internationally.
Project Details
The successful Senior Quantum Consultant will work on a wide variety of UK and international projects across the building, infrastructure, and civil engineering sectors. You will provide expert quantum analysis and commercial insight to assist in the resolution of construction claims and disputes.
Responsibilities and Duties
This Senior Quantum Consultant job opportunity is with a well-established claims and disputes consultancy that supports clients facing commercial and contractual challenges.
Core duties include:
- Forensic examination and analysis of project accounts to identify and substantiate areas of dispute
- Preparation and defence of claims, including quantification of damages arising from delays, variations, and breaches of contract
- Preparation of detailed written reports suitable for use in mediation, adjudication, arbitration, and litigation
- Acting as lead assistant to expert witnesses or as an independent expert on quantum matters
- Providing strategic commercial advice and support on live projects
- Managing client relationships and overseeing junior consultants and surveyors
- Contributing to business development and maintaining the company’s excellent industry reputation
Desired Skills and Experience
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Cost Manager within contractor, client, or consultancy environments
- Experience with construction claims and disputes
- Excellent working knowledge of standard forms of contract including JCT and NEC
- Strong understanding of construction law principles and quantum analysis
- Proven experience preparing and evaluating claims and final accounts
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with an ability to present complex information clearly
- Leadership ability, including mentoring junior staff and managing multiple assignments concurrently
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field
- A postgraduate qualification in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution (preferred but not essential)
- Professional membership such as MRICS, MCIOB, or equivalent is highly desirable
