A London based specialist consultancy providing a range of quantum and delay claims and disputes services to clients, is seeking a Senior Consultant to join their growing business.

This is a particularly well-paid role for a Senior Consultant role and could suit an experienced Senior Consultant already working in a specialist consultancy, who is looking for a pay-rise and/or more opportunities to act in lead roles.

The client is a growing smaller business of circa 10 staff and are keen to provide more opportunities to candidates working at larger consultancies who are maybe not getting the exposure they feel they deserve.

Project Details

The client offers a range a service to their client base, including:

  • Expert witness & expert advisory services
  • Advocacy services/party representative
  • Claims & dispute management
  • Quantum analysis
  • Delay analysis
  • Contract & procurement advisory services
  • Project evaluation & recovery

Their current workload is currently biased towards domestic disputes heading for adjudication. However, they also carry out international arbitration work on a slightly less frequent basis. Meaning that this role could suit candidates who have strong adjudication experience and want to get some exposure to arbitration/litigation work.

Responsibilities and Duties

One of the key selling points for this role is the opportunities that you will be given to act in a senior/lead role on major disputes. You will be required to sometimes act in a supporting role to the expert witness on larger disputes, however you will also be given ample opportunities to act is a lead role on smaller projects with a view to increasing your skills, experience and network within the legal sector to gain your own appointments in due course.

Desired Skills and Experience

The client is seeking candidates with frequent exposure to construction disputes throughout their career to date. This could be either working for a specialist claims / expert witness consultancy or potentially in a role for a contractor, consultancy or client organisation that had frequent exposure to disputes.

  • A clear understanding of the adjudication process and the ability to manage the adjudication process on behalf of clients
  • A good understanding of construction law and the ability to advise clients management teams on their true contractual position
  • Excellent writing skills and be able to demonstrate your ability to write legal/contractual letters, as well as contribute to expert witness reports
  • Candidates from a successful commercial background are preferred by the client, however candidates with the necessary experience from engineering, project management and planning backgrounds will also be considered
  • Bright and ambitious by nature
  • Willing to take responsibility for some business development tasks and strive to generate business through new and existing clients. Success in this regard will be generously rewarded through the company’s bonus scheme

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • A relevant construction degree is essential
  • It would be preferred if candidates are dual qualified and hold a relevant construction law qualification such as an MSc or LLM in addition to a degree. Candidates working towards these, or similar qualifications will also be considered.
  • Professional membership to a reputable body such as the RICS or CIArb would be advantageous but is not essential.

Employing Company Overview and Profile
