An exciting Clerk of Works position is available to join a London-based consultancy firm to work on new-build and refurbishment residential projects. You will be visiting sites throughout the region of Milton Keynes, north London, Oxfordshire, and the Midlands.

A desirable candidate will possess on-site inspection experience, MICWCI qualification status, and a driving license perform site visits. This industry-leading employer is willing to assist an ambitious clerk of works to acquire full ICWCI qualification if needed.

Project Details

This clerk of works job will suit candidates based in Milton Keynes, or the Buckinghamshire, north London, south Midlands area as the ability to travel to various sites in the north London area and surrounding home counties is vital.

You will be working on commercial new-build and refurbishment residential housing for tier 1 contractors or housing associations. All work is on-site or remote based from home – you will not need to be based in an office.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Inspect new-build and refurbishment projects on-site
  • Ensure standards are maintained in keeping with contract drawings and specification
  • Produce high quality site inspection reports
  • Liaise with contractors
  • Inspect snagging, defects, and discrepancies
  • Assist with on-site quality management
  • Update filing system for project

Desired Skills and Experience

  • On-site experience with new-build and refurbishment housing projects –  former tradesmen, such as plumbers and electricians who have become site managers and are looking for a career as a clerk of works, would be a good fit
  • Clear written and interpersonal communication skills need to be demonstrated
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project)
  • Proficient in the use of tablet-based inspection software (Field View, PlanRadar, etc.) is highly desirable, although training can be provided
  • Driving license is essential for visiting sites
  • Experience in roles related to clerk of works, such as customer care manager or quality technical inspection would be valued

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Clerk of Works ICWCI qualification (e.g. MICWCI, Assoc. ICWCI, LICWCI) is desirable, although help to achieve this qualification can be provided to suitable candidates
  • Fire Engineers qualification IFE is desirable but not essential
