An exceptional Executive Director is required to lead the claims, disputes, and expert witness division for a leading global project consultancy.
This senior leadership role offers full responsibility for technical excellence, business growth, and strategic leadership of a multi-disciplinary expert team working across adjudication, arbitration, mediation, and litigation matters within the UK, Ireland and internationally.

Project Details

The successful candidate will oversee complex and high-profile construction claims and expert witness appointments as well as lead an existing team of highly skilled quantum and delay professionals.
You will also be expected to drive business growth and take operational responsibility for the division.
The consultancy is favourable towards remote/ hybrid working but the successful candidate should expect to travel to the London head officed as and when required.

Responsibilities and Duties

As Executive Director – Claims, Disputes and Expert Witness Lead, you will:

  • Lead the strategic direction, business planning, and financial performance of the Claims and Disputes service line.
  • Oversee delivery of construction claims, dispute resolution, and expert witness services with technical and procedural rigour.
  • Oversee resource planning and financial performance
  • Ensure quality assurance, independence, and compliance across all commissions.
  • Provide expert oversight on complex quantum or delay matters.
  • Build trusted client relationships and represent the consultancy at senior level within dispute forums.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of claims and expert professionals.
  • Drive business development and industry visibility through thought leadership, publications, and professional engagement.
  • Promote collaboration, diversity, and wellbeing within a high-performance environment.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Recognised leader in claims, dispute resolution, or expert witness services with experience acting as a named expert – quantum or delay.
  • Proven success leading specialist service lines or consultancy teams with full P&L responsibility.
  • Strong commercial acumen, capable of driving sustainable growth and profitability.
  • In-depth understanding of major construction contracts (NEC, JCT, FIDIC) and associated entitlement, delay, and quantum issues.
  • Experience across adjudication, arbitration, mediation, and litigation proceedings.
  • Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Trusted leadership presence, combining technical credibility with people and business leadership.
  • Proven business development and work-winning experience
  • Ideally Testifying experience

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Law, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered status with a recognised professional body such as MRICS/FRICS, MCIArb/FCIArb, or MCIOB/FCIOB (or equivalent).
  • Additional Expert witness accreditation (e.g. Bond Solon or Cardiff University certification) desirable or further qualifications in Construction Law
