Intermediate Quantity Surveyor role with engineering project management consultancy in Toronto, Ontario.

Looking for an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to start as soon as possible.

Only candidates who are legally eligible to work in Canada will be considered.

Suitable candidates will have a quantity surveying background.

Project Details

This Intermediate Quantity Surveyor role will include components of cost planning and cost estimating.

The project work is for a transmission line. The successful candidate will be based in the employer's Toronto office with the flexibility to work from home a few days a week. Responsibilities and Duties

  • Measuring various types of projects from construction plans and preparing detailed schedules of quantities.
  • Assisting in the preparation of construction estimates using information from field engineers, architects, and other design consultants.
  • Assisting with the delivery and updating of agreed cost plans.
  • Working with colleagues to review and provide advice on all cost items and contractor commitments.
  • Verifying project budgets and time schedules to ensure effective planning.
  • Ensuring compliance with quality standards in all aspects of the projects.
  • Providing a comprehensive range of cost-estimating services to both new and existing clients.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance cost management procedures, templates, and products, and administering them accordingly.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of local experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Cost Consultant, Estimator or in a similar role
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office 365   
  • Knowledge of CIQS standard method of measurement (elemental/trade)
  • Superior communication and English proficiency skills.
  • Self-motivated, understand client care, knowledgeable in their field, and proactive in asking questions
  • Strong understanding of construction estimates and the construction industry including development, contracting, and consultant services.
  • Experience and capability in carrying out cost and commercial duties.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • A professional cost or estimating qualification is desirable, such as a Quantity Surveying, cost estimating, or Estimating degree, or a Technical Diploma
  • Professional qualifications obtained such as PQS or MRICS are desirable
