Managing Quantum Claims Consultant
A Quantity Surveying, Procurement, Planning, Commercial Management and Construction Disputes Consultancy is hiring a Managing Claims Consultant for their office in Glasgow, Scotland.
They are seeking a Chartered (MRICS) Quantity Surveyor who will hold a managerial position, with previous successful experience either as a Commercial Manager, Quantity Surveyor and has experience in a position with expertise in quantum disputes.
The chosen individual for the position of Managing Quantum Claims Consultant must have significant experience on a sizable number of claims during disputes in construction projects. Ideally, you will have prior management or senior-level work experience with formal conflicts involving adjudication, arbitration, and/or litigation's quantum analysis. The chosen applicant will work in a managerial capacity, frequently managing a team that gives clients high-level advice on contracts, business transactions, and dispute resolution.
The candidate for Managing Quantum Claims Consultant will have exposure to a variety of interesting and complex projects. The hiring company has an established client based both in the UK and Canada. They are frequently chosen to support top main contractors on controversial projects because of their great reputation for delivering experience in Quantity Surveying, Planning, and dispute resolution in the construction sector.
Responsibilities and Duties
To produce an expert report that will be presented to the court for testimony and cross-examination, you will work closely with the lead testifying expert as a member of their team, offering independent and unbiased analysis of the important areas of the disagreement. Specific duties will include:
- Working closely with the lead testifying expert as his lead assistant to provide forensic quantum analysis on important areas of the dispute.
- Offering highly analytical expert opinions supported by evidence on quantum-related issues within disputes.
- Writing / Drafting sections of the expert report
- Supporting junior employees taking extensive data and correspondence pertaining to the dispute, using your knowledge as a Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager to provide relevant information from various sources, and presenting it for Claims Expert review
- Contract Administration by controlling, managing, and reporting contractual obligations from procurement to final account
- Internal staff performance management, growth, and training, where appropriate
- Serving as a mentor and role model to other employees
Desired Skills and Experience
- Been successful in a quantity surveying career, ideally for recognised employers and on challenging projects.
- It is necessary to have exposure to and familiarity with the procedures used in cases headed for adjudication, arbitration, and/or litigation.
- Whilst experience on adjudication disputes could be beneficial in this role, candidates will need to firmly understand and convey how they could adapt from reviewing data and writing reports in a persuasive manner to acting in an independent and impartial manner
- It would be beneficial to have exposure to a variety of contracts like NEC and JCT and project areas.
- Candidate should have a meticulous and analytical attitude towards his tasks
- A personable and professional manner
- Sincere desire to advance in the expert witness industry
- MRICS/ RICS Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors membership or fellowship is desired
- Must be Degree qualified in a relevant subject (or similar equivalent)
- A construction law degree or related comparable postgraduate qualification is highly desirable such as MSc / LLB in Construction Law
