Project Scheduler / Project Planner job based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The successful candidate will support the planning and scheduling of major transit, transportation and civil engineering infrastructure projects across the province, including heavy civil, marine, port, rail, bridge and highway schemes.
Projects range up to CAD$4B in value and span all phases of the project lifecycle.
Candidates who are Canadian Citizens, are Canadian Permanent Residents or who have already secured a work visa for Canada are preferred.
Responsibilities and Duties
This Construction Project Scheduler / Project Planner job in Vancouver is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative engineering and project delivery team. You will support project schedules from early planning through construction delivery, ensuring accurate programme control across multiple complex projects.
Key duties include:
- Develop, maintain and track executive-level and detailed project schedules using Primavera P6
- Work across multiple heavy civil, transportation, transit and infrastructure projects
- Provide routine schedule updates and look-ahead reports tailored for various client and project audiences
- Review contractor schedules and provide professional recommendations to support the client’s interests
- Integrate planning schedules from contractors, consultants and stakeholders into a coherent master schedule
- Identify and monitor critical path activities and potential interface conflicts
- Conduct what-if scenarios, delay analyses and propose schedule recovery or acceleration strategies
- Apply industry best practice scheduling methods and principles
- Prepare technical memorandums and scheduling reports
- Support Earned Value Management processes to track schedule performance
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a positive, supportive work environment
- Show willingness to be mentored and continue developing scheduling and project controls expertise (CPD)
Desired Skills and Experience
This Project Scheduler / Project Planning role in Vancouver requires strong scheduling and infrastructure experience.
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 5 years of project scheduling or construction planning experience
- Have gained scheduling experience on heavy civil, infrastructure, transportation or transit projects (highways, rail, bridges, tunnels preferred)
- Strong proficiency with Primavera P6 is preferred
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and multidisciplinary reports (perhaps from working on site for a period as an engineer or similar?)
- Able to demonstrate a good understanding of constructability, including staging, sequencing, methods and productivity norms
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, suitable for a client-facing consultancy environment
- Ability to prioritise multiple assignments concurrently with minimal supervision
- Experience using MS Project and/or TILOS is desirable in addition to strong Primavera experience
- Canadian Citizenship, Canadian Permanent Residency or possession of a Canadian work permit preferred
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar is highly desirable
- P.Eng achieved or in progress is desirable
