This is an opportunity to work alongside internationally recognised quantum experts, including professionals ranked by Lexology's Who's Who Legal, on complex, high-value construction disputes and international arbitration proceedings.
The successful candidate will contribute to the preparation of quantum expert reports, detailed construction claims analysis and expert evidence relating to major international construction and engineering disputes.
The consultancy is involved in disputes arising from substantial projects across infrastructure, energy, real estate, oil and gas, offshore, transportation, technology and defence, often involving multiple jurisdictions and complex contractual and commercial issues.
This Senior Associate – Quantum position is suitable for professionals from several backgrounds, including:
-
PQS and construction cost consultancy professionals with at least 4 years' experience who have developed strong commercial, contractual and analytical skills and are interested in specialising in construction arbitration and quantum expert witness work.
-
Contractor-side Quantity Surveyors and commercial professionals with experience of major construction projects, particularly those with exposure to contractual claims, variations, commercial negotiations and contentious construction matters.
-
Quantum Consultants, Construction Claims Consultants and early-career construction disputes professionals who already have experience of arbitration, litigation support or expert witness services and are seeking greater responsibility and exposure to high-value international disputes.
The position provides an opportunity to develop specialist expertise in quantum analysis, international arbitration, construction claims and expert witness services within an established and highly regarded disputes practice.
You will receive direct mentoring from senior quantum experts and gain exposure to the preparation of independent expert evidence for major international construction disputes.
For candidates transitioning from traditional quantity surveying or commercial management, the role offers a route into specialist construction dispute resolution. Candidates already working within quantum consultancy or arbitration support will benefit from increased responsibility, exposure to complex cases and a clear long-term career development opportunity.
Responsibilities and Duties
As a Senior Associate – Quantum, you will join an established team of construction disputes professionals providing specialist quantum analysis and expert witness support in international arbitration and other formal dispute resolution proceedings.
Working closely with experienced quantum experts, you will contribute to detailed investigations of construction claims, contractual disputes and financial issues arising from complex construction and engineering projects.
The role will provide exposure to different stages of the arbitration and expert witness process, with increasing responsibility for technical analysis, report preparation and the development of expert evidence.
Key responsibilities will include:
-
Supporting internationally recognised quantum experts in the preparation of detailed quantum expert reports for construction arbitration, litigation and other dispute resolution proceedings.
-
Conducting detailed quantum analysis of complex construction claims, including disputed variations, changes in scope, additional costs and other financial claims arising from construction projects.
-
Reviewing construction contracts, financial records, cost reports, contractual correspondence and contemporaneous project documentation to establish relevant facts and support quantum assessments.
-
Investigating and analysing the commercial and financial consequences of construction delays, disruption, variations and other disputed project events.
-
Preparing detailed calculations, supporting schedules and analytical documentation for inclusion in independent quantum expert reports.
-
Assisting with the preparation of expert evidence, joint expert statements and supporting materials for international arbitration and litigation proceedings.
-
Supporting submissions to the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and other arbitral institutions.
-
Undertaking detailed research into disputed contractual and commercial matters, including the assessment of construction costs and financial entitlements.
-
Applying quantity surveying, cost management and construction commercial expertise to complex quantum investigations and construction claims assessments.
-
Working with senior quantum experts to develop clear, structured and well-supported technical findings.
-
Liaising with colleagues, solicitors, legal counsel and other relevant parties to obtain and review project records and supporting evidence.
-
Assisting with the preparation of presentations, hearing materials, demonstratives and supporting documentation for expert testimony and cross-examination.
-
Contributing to the delivery of multiple concurrent international construction disputes and arbitration assignments.
-
Developing specialist knowledge of construction arbitration, quantum expert witness procedures and international construction dispute resolution.
As your experience develops, you will be encouraged to take increasing ownership of analytical workstreams, sections of expert reports and more complex construction dispute assignments.

-
Exposure to construction claims, contractual disputes, quantum assessment, arbitration or litigation support would be particularly advantageous.
-
An interest in developing specialist expertise in quantum analysis, international construction arbitration and expert witness services.
-
Strong analytical and numerical abilities, with the capacity to investigate complex commercial issues and interpret detailed financial and contractual information.
-
Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to prepare accurate, structured and well-reasoned technical reports.
-
A methodical and detail-oriented approach to document analysis, research and evidence review.
