Project Details
At the direction of Directors and Associates, undertake various and multiple work assignments, delivering within timeframes and managing resources to provide exemplary professional services to our Clients, at all times exercising sound financial acumen, proactively maximising value, and maintaining the required levels of safety and other mandates
Responsibilities and Duties
- Professional liaison with all internal and external customers and stakeholders
- Deputise for a Director or Associate as directed
- Provide commercially pragmatic and technically accurate quantity surveying and cost planning services, and cost management advice to our Clients
- Develop and maintain existing Client relationships
- Resource planning
- Demonstrate leadership and provide direction to less experienced staff
- Ensure the efficient and organised working of QS staff
- Encourage staff suggestions and feedback on current practice
- Maintain professional expertise and continue professional development
- Develop and maintain technical proficiency with applications and equipment used
- Develop and implement operation processes which ensure a high level of efficiency and effectiveness
- Ensure the implementation of client policies
- Initiate and encourage the development of client policies and practice
- Undertake all necessary technical duties as required including:
- Masterplan and Feasibility Budgets
- Cost Checking of Developing Design
- Value Engineering
- Bills of Quantities
- Tender Evaluations and analysis
- Contract negotiations
- Cash flow projects
- Procurement
- Cost Reporting
- Evaluation of Variations
- Valuations
- Final Account Reporting
- Claims preparation, presentation, negotiation and settlement of claims
- Investment analysis
Project Related
- Work as Project Leader or Job Captain
- Day to day project matters, including:
- Receive the Brief and/or Client's requirements
- Brief, direct and supervise other Project personnel
- Ensure sound planning and technical control are maintained
- Ensure direct reports are fully briefed during absence
- Request appropriate training if necessary
- Ensure sound performance of Project work
- Communicate suggestions and feedback on current practice
- Negotiation of prices with contractors and sub-contractors where required
- Assist third party contractors in preparing tenders
- Mentoring and training of less experienced staff in cost estimating
- Conduct cost research into building costs, products and services
- Price estimates, Bills of Quantities, Variations
Desired Skills and Experience
- 6 years post-qualification experience in a PQS consultancy business
- Broad quantity surveying experience
- Fully experienced in the provision of core QS services from feasibility / concept through to finalization of accounts and DLP admin.
- Fully experienced in the use of all major forms of contract.
- Experienced, in the provision of some specialist services (i.e. life cycle costing, sustainability, risk analysis etc).
- Possess excellent communication skill and strong interpersonal skill and able to interact effectively with external parties
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Construction or engineering degree qualified
