Assistant Quantity Surveyor
An Assistant Quantity Surveyor is needed in Manchester for a multi-disciplinary UK construction consultancy to support £100m+ programmes across public sector builds. 1–5 years’ experience, RICS pathway encouraged, and enthusiasm desired.
An excellent opportunity for a Manchester Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a respected UK consultancy delivering multiple public-sector construction and refurbishment projects (£100m+ each), including a hospital, and policing infrastructure CPIP programme. Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist with cost planning, estimating, benchmarking and whole-life costing
- Prepare and analyse tenders, BoQs, schedules of work and procurement reports
- Support contract administration and post-contract cost control (valuations, variations, final accounts)
- Maintain risk registers and change control logs; contribute to value engineering
- Produce clear, client-ready reports and present findings confidently
- Collaborate with PM/Design/Engineering while working independently when required
Desired Skills and Experience
- 1–5 years’ QS experience within consultancy or main contracting
- Sound knowledge of pre- and post-contract processes (NEC/JCT exposure beneficial)
- Numerate, analytical, and commercially aware with strong Excel skills
- Proactive self-starter with gumption; comfortable in a smaller team environment
- Excellent communication; builds rapport with clients and stakeholders
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent)
- On route to MRICS
