Project Details
The successful Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects typically valued between £250,000 and £6 million. Projects are delivered across the UK, often centred around specialist engineering works within the construction sector.
Responsibilities and Duties
The Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial team in managing costs, contracts, and project performance across multiple schemes.
Assist in the commercial management of civil engineering projects from inception to completion
- Support administration of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts
- Assist with early warning notices and compensation events
- Prepare and manage cost reports, valuations, and forecasts
- Support programme and risk register integration
- Assist in identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
- Work closely with project teams to ensure cost control and budget adherence
- Contribute to subcontractor procurement and management
- Attend client and internal meetings as required
- Occasionally travel to project sites across the UK
Desired Skills and Experience
This role is suited to a developing Quantity Surveyor with experience in civil engineering or construction projects and a desire to build strong NEC contract knowledge.
- Experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity Surveyor within construction or civil engineering
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of NEC3 or NEC4 contracts
- Understanding of early warning notices and compensation events processes
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Good commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Ability to manage workload across multiple projects
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to learn and develop professionally
- Ability to travel occasionally to UK project sites
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline
- Working towards professional accreditation (e.g. RICS) is desirable
- Relevant construction or contract management training advantageous
