Senior Consultant - Quantum
A well-established, London-based claims and disputes consultancy is seeking a Senior Consultant – Quantum to join its growing specialist team. This role is suited to experienced Quantity Surveyors or Quantum Consultants who already have exposure to claims, dispute resolution, and quantum analysis and are looking to take the next step in their specialist career.
The position offers responsibility for leading quantum workstreams on complex, high-value projects, supporting expert witnesses, and contributing to dispute resolution proceedings. The successful candidate will work closely with senior claims professionals, legal teams, and clients, while also supporting and mentoring more junior consultants.
Responsibilities and Duties
This Senior Quantum Consultant role sits within a specialist claims and disputes consultancy that provides expert commercial and contractual advice to clients facing complex project and dispute challenges.
Key responsibilities include:

Leading forensic analysis of project accounts to identify, evaluate, and substantiate areas of commercial dispute.

Preparing, reviewing, and agreeing final accounts to a standard suitable for adjudication, arbitration, and litigation.

Leading the quantification of damages arising from delays, variations, disruption, and breaches of contract.

Drafting, reviewing, and managing the production of detailed quantum reports for use in dispute resolution proceedings, acting either as an advocate or in support of independent expert witnesses.

Representing parties or supporting the defence in formal dispute resolution proceedings, including adjudication and mediation.

Providing strategic commercial support on live projects, including oversight of client commercial teams and delivery of high-level commercial advice.

Supporting expert witnesses with quantum analysis, report preparation, and hearing preparation.

Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior members of the quantum and claims team.
Desired Skills and Experience

Typically 6+ years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Quantum Consultant, gained within a consultancy, client-side, or main contractor environment.

Demonstrable experience working on construction claims and disputes, including quantum analysis and final account resolution.

Strong knowledge of standard forms of construction contract, particularly JCT and NEC, and their application in disputes.

Experience in procurement strategy development, contract administration, and commercial management.

A solid understanding of construction law, particularly relating to the assessment and quantification of damages.

Proven ability to manage multiple commissions concurrently and take ownership of workstreams.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing high-quality reports and client-facing deliverables.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail.

Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Sound technical knowledge of construction methods, processes, and industry best practice.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements

Degree-qualified in a relevant construction-related discipline.

Progress towards, or completion of, a higher qualification in construction law or a related subject would be advantageous but is not essential.

Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS) is beneficial but not mandatory.
