Project Details

The successful candidate will work for a specialist scaffolding contractor delivering scaffolding packages for construction projects across London and the South East of England. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will manage the commercial and contractual aspects of multiple scaffolding projects from contract award through to final account.

Responsibilities and Duties

This Senior Quantity Surveyor job will suit a commercially focused professional who is comfortable managing several live projects at once. The role includes responsibility for commercial reporting, contract administration, cost control and stakeholder management, while supporting wider business growth.

  • Lead the commercial and contractual management of multiple scaffolding and construction projects
  • Manage projects from contract award through to final account
  • Negotiate contract terms and manage commercial risk
  • Prepare cost forecasts, valuations and commercial reports
  • Produce and submit payment applications
  • Prepare CVRs and cash flow forecasts
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, accounts, payments and variations
  • Ensure compliance with contractual and legal requirements
  • Work closely with contract managers, site supervisors and senior leadership teams
  • Help deliver projects to budget and programme
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers and other stakeholders
  • Support repeat business and long-term client relationships
  • Mentor and support junior surveyors
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and health, safety, environmental and quality standards

Desired Skills and Experience

This Senior Quantity Surveyor role requires an experienced Quantity Surveyor with strong commercial, contractual and leadership capability. Previous experience in scaffolding would be highly advantageous, although strong construction sector experience is also relevant.

  • Proven experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor or similar senior commercial role
  • Strong knowledge of JCT contracts
  • Ability to manage complex contractual and commercial matters
  • Good understanding of scaffolding systems, construction methods and cost management processes
  • Experience preparing valuations, CVRs, payment applications and final accounts
  • Strong commercial awareness and risk management skills
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work to tight deadlines
  • Leadership skills with experience mentoring or managing junior team members
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
