Responsibilities and Duties

In this Clerk of Works job in North London, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of construction quality across multiple active sites.

• Undertake regular inspections on construction sites across North London
• Review workmanship to ensure compliance with specifications and design drawings
• Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to building regulations and standards
• Identify defects, quality issues, and non-compliant works
• Prepare clear and detailed inspection reports with supporting photographs
• Liaise with contractors, consultants, and client representatives
• Attend site progress meetings where required
• Support consistent quality assurance across all assigned construction projects

Desired Skills and Experience

The ideal Clerk of Works will bring practical construction knowledge and a keen eye for detail, particularly within residential developments.

• Proven experience as a Clerk of Works, Site Inspector, or similar role within construction
• Strong understanding of residential building methods and standards
• Experience working on projects in North London or Greater London is advantageous
• Excellent written reporting and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage inspections across multiple construction sites
• Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel locally

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

• ICWCI membership (MICWCI / LICWCI) is preferred
• CIOB, RICS, CABE or equivalent construction accreditation considered
• Relevant construction or building qualification desirable
