QS Department Contract Manager

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Commercial/Contracts Manager to work on a newly awarded large scale civil engineering project based in Hong Kong. You will be based within the Commercial & Contracts department, and will be site based for the duration of the project.

Responsibilities and Duties

•  Adopt hands on approach to the management of Quantity Surveying staff on a major civil engineering project
•  Take a lead role in project execution and cost control
•  Responsible for contract correspondence and contractual letters.
•  Play a lead role in cash flow management and budget reviews.
•  Provide professional contract/legal and strategy advice to ensure the project runs smoothly
•  Draft and monitor Subcontracts and plant/material supply contracts
•  Prepare monthly reports for senior management
•  Valuation of variations and claims
•  Document management
•  Attend client meetings

Desired Skills and Experience

•  Extensive experience working as a Contracts Manager ideally on civil engineering project within Hong Kong
•  Strong contractual and legal experience
•  High level of commercial awareness as well as excellent negotiation skills
•  Experience working on NEC contracts is an advantage
•  Fluent in English
•  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
•  Ability to lead and manage a team of quantity surveyors and commercial staff

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

• Degree qualified in quantity surveying or equivalent 
• Post contract legal qualification is an advantage 
• Professional membership such MRICS/MHKIS is preferred
