An exciting opportunity to work as a Senior Consultant - Delay for a reputable construction disputes consultancy based out of their London office.

In this role, you will work along side some of the most experienced professionals in the expert advisory sector. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the global leading expert advisory consultancies and take the first step towards a career in construction disputes.

The client is working with a prestigious domestic and international client base, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to work on some exciting global disputes over the next few years.

Project Details

Whilst being based out of the London office, you will work in disputes for domestic and international projects. The client offers a variety of advisory and expert services to help their client base understand their true position when it comes to their contract and can support them through dispute proceeding.

Responsibilities and Duties

In this Senior Consultant – Delay role, you will gain exposure to an exciting variety of construction dispute related work. Successful candidates will operate as a part of Delay professionals, often providing support to one of the experts or business directors on assignments. Specific duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Gathering information relating to disputes
  • Supporting the instructed expert with forensic delay and Critical Path Method/ CPM on behalf of the main contractor and client
  • Using a variety of delay analysis techniques to forensically analyse programmes and other documentation relating to project delays (e.g., As Planned vs As Built, Time Impact Analysis, Windows Analysis)
  • Preparation or defence of extension of time claims on behalf of employers, main contractors, and sub-contractors.
  • Working independently or with client teams to carry out ‘live’ planning assistance.
  • Supporting a Delay expert witness with delay analysis and drafting sections of reports

Desired Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 10 – 15+ years of experience in the construction industry worked as a Project Manager, Construction Planner, Package Manager, Project Engineer etc.
  • A minimum of 2+ years of experience as a Delay Analyst
  • Ideally experience with planning software, including Primavera P6 and MS Project.
  • The preparation of written reports for use in negotiation, as well as formal dispute resolution processes such as mediation, adjudication, and litigation; prepared as either advocate or assistant to an independent expert.
  • Knowledge of Delay and Disruption Analysis and the Society of Construction Law Delay and Disruption protocol
  • Strong client facing skills

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • A Degree in a relevant subject
  • Relevant MSc in Engineering and/ or Construction Law and Disputes would be an advantage
